The first NMLI BBQ. Food, family and a bit of sand.

The whole idea behind No Man Left Inside is that life is better when you aren’t doing it alone. We spend a lot of time grafting in the rain, hitting the pads or pushing our limits in the elements, but this weekend was about something different. We headed down to the coast for our first family BBQ get together on the beach. It was a chance to trade the training gear for a grill and actually catch up properly.

As you can see in the photo, we had a solid turnout. A fair few lads had to head off before we got the final group shot together, but the energy was spot on from start to finish. There is something about being by the water that clears the head and reminds you why we do this.

More than just a training group

It was a simple day where families finally got to meet each other, food was shared and we actually had a proper laugh without being out of breath for once. It’s easy to talk about “brotherhood” on a website, but seeing it in person, watching the kids play on the sand and the partners get to know each other, that is where the real belonging happens.

For many of us, our families only hear about the training sessions or the guys we meet. Bringing everyone together like this bridges the gap. It shows our families the support network we are building and it gives the men a chance to lead in a different way. We’re all trying to be better men, better dads and better mates. Having a purpose is important but having a tribe that actually has your back in the real world is what keeps you going when things get heavy.

A true sense of belonging

The modern world is great at keeping us isolated. We go from the office to the car to the house, often without having a real conversation with anyone who gets it. This BBQ was the opposite of that. It was about belonging to something bigger than yourself. There were no egos and no one was trying to outdo anyone else. It was just a group of people who care about seeing each other do well.

When we talk about “No Man Left Inside,” we don’t just mean getting out of the four walls of your house. We mean getting out of your own head and into a community that values you. Whether we were flipping burgers or just standing around talking, the sense of purpose was clear. We are here to hold the line for each other.

What is coming up next

If you missed this one, don’t worry. This was just the first of many and we want the tribe to keep growing. We’re getting right back to the physical side of things with our next event: Battle of the Beach on 16th May.

We’ll be heading back to Morecambe to test ourselves on the sand with some high energy movement and wrestling drills. It’s a one-off session and, like everything else we do, it is FREE. We don’t care if you’re 16 or 60, what your background is or if you haven’t broken a sweat in years. If you’re a man looking for a bit of a challenge and a group of guys who actually give a damn, you’re welcome here.

Stop overthinking it and get yourself out of the house. It’s time to rebuild yourself alongside others who are doing the exact same thing. We’ll see you on the sand.
